Tiep Nguyen
Head of Academics, VietAI & NTI
Tiep Nguyen is currently a lecturer at University of Information Technology, researcher at Multimedia Communications Laboratory (MMLab), VNU-HCM. He obtained his Ph.D from University of Information, VNUHCM and MSc degree at University of Science in a co-program with John von Neumann Institute.
His research interest is about computer vision and machine learning. He has a great passion for transferring knowledge and research skills to his students.

An is a former researcher/lecturer of Computer Vision and Deep Learning in Faculty of Information Technology, University of Science, VNU-HCM. He completed a BSc in Computer Science in the Honors Program, Faculty of Information Technology, University of Science in 2017 and a MSc. in Computer Vision in Information Science School, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2019. An focuses on applying principles and techniques of Computer Vision and Deep Learning to practical problems in surveillance, traffic, medicine.

Khoa Ta
AI Engineer, Maritime Bank (MSB)
Dang Khoa Ta holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. He currently works as an AI Engineer at Maritime Bank (MSB), specializing in audio and language processing, including speaker diarization, text-to-speech, automated IELTS scoring, and chatbot development. A familiar face at NTI, Khoa has extensive teaching and TA experience across multiple courses.

Ngo Trung Hieu
Senior AI Engineer @ MoMo
Hieu is currently a Senior AI Engineer at MoMo with 5 years of experience, specializing in natural language processing and developing highly scalable AI applications. Hieu specializes in large-scale projects such as recommendation systems, sentiment analysis, and text correction. Currently, Hieu is focusing on the problem of developing chatbots for businesses, from the early days with the Rasa framework and later moving towards applying GenAI (LLM) to the problem. Hieu's most recent project, Moni - a financial AI assistant, serves more than 31 million users of the MoMo product. In addition, Hieu is passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with the AI community about GenAI applications such as Prompt Engineer, RAG, multi-agent as well as participating in sharing seminars on technology.

Nguyen Gia Hy
Lecturer & Tutor, Swinburne University
PhD Candidate, Deakin University
Hy is currently a lecturer at Swinburne University (Australia) and a PhD candidate in AI at Deakin University (Australia). Hy is also running a non-profit project to help Vietnamese students access high-quality AI education and work directly with Vietnamese professors and engineers working abroad. In addition to his main job, Hy also spends time supervising students writing scientific papers to submit to leading conferences such as ICLR, AAAI, AAMAS, etc. In his free time, Hy loves to share about AI, so he has a Tiktok account, a Facebook page, and a blog to share about his life and expertise. In addition, Hy also loves playing soccer (although he is very bad at it 😅)

Ba Ngoc

Google Developers Expert in Machine Learning
Ngoc is the Founder of ProtonX and VietAI Hanoi. He is passionate about programming and machine learning, and has a strong belief that “Machines will be able to surpass the speed limit of humans in the future”. In 2022, Ngoc founded ProtonX - his artificial intelligence company, with the mission of applying AI to solve important social problems.

Lam is currently a PhD candidate in Computer Science at the University of Illinois. Previously, Lam was an ML/Software Engineer at Cazoodle Inc. Lam's main research interests are Information Extraction and Information Retrieval.

Nguyen Khac Duy
Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, AI Center, FPT Software; The University of Queensland
Duy is currently an AI/ML engineer at AI Center, focusing mainly on natural language processing (NLP). Duy is passionate about the fundamental theories of deep learning as well as the application of language models (LLMs x KG x XAI) to practical problems. In 2024, Duy achieved NVIDIA Certificates in Generative AI - LLMs and is training programmers to pass NVIDIA certifications. In 2023, Duy had the honor of presenting about GenAI to Prof. Andrew Ng - founder of DeepLearning.AI, Landing.AI and co-founder of Coursera. With diverse experience from research as well as application, he wants to use courses to help convey the ability to apply AI into practice.

Hoang Tran
LLM Lead, NTI;
Senior Research Scientist, OpenAI
Hoang is leading multiple LLM initiatives and enterprise customer engagements. Prior to Snorkel, Hoang co-founded Vizly, a startup helping designers streamline customer feedback processes. Vizly was a part of Mozilla's Fix-the-Internet Startup Lab. Hoang previously worked at Fujitsu AI Labs, DeepCore (SoftBank's), and VNG Corporation.

Nguyen Hoang Bao Dai
Senior ML Research Scientist
Bao Đai is a Senior ML Research Scientist in Singapore, specializing in natural language processing, computer vision, and AI-driven music analysis. He became the third Vietnamese recognized as a Google Developer Expert in machine learning (2019) and was among the top five students of his cohort, receiving a full VinGroup scholarship but choosing financial independence for his master's studies. Recently, he completed his master's at NUS and developed several AI projects in music, including a Vietnamese pop music composition model and VSmart ringtones (2021). Beyond research, he is also an artist, writing songs and contributing to the SpaceJam vol 1 album (2023).

Duong Nguyen

Mr. Duong is currently Teaching & Technical Lead at VietAI. He is also Founder & CEO at ZenAI, a startup providing Generative AI solutions, behind the success of many GenAI applications. He is also the co-founder of the project to translate the book Deep Learning (Goodfellow, Bengio, Courville) into Vietnamese - DLBOOKVN.
Mr. Duong has published a number of research works in the fields of Machine Learning and NLP, notably an article on Bayesian neural networks published at the world's leading conference NeurIPS 2021. Mr. Duong is also an active open source contributor who has contributed many source codes to some popular libraries such as transformers and diffusers of Hugging Face.

Thanh Le
AI Resident, VinAI Research
Thanh Le currently is a AI Resident at VinAI Research. Previously he was a Machine Learning Engineer in Hanoi with expertise in Natural Language Processing. He joined VietAI in 2019 as a teaching assistant and supported many successful classes such as Foundation of Machine Learning and Advanced NLP. Recently he has won second place at the VLSP challenge on image captioning for healthcare. His research interest lies in vision-language models and natural language generation.

Tran Hieu
Machine Learning Engineer, BLACKBOX AI
Hieu Tran is currently a Machine Learning Engineer at BLACKBOX AI, a company specializing in large-scale language models and their applications in AI coding. He has also published many papers at famous international conferences/workshops such as ViPubmed (EACL2023) and contributed to the construction of the BLOOM language model. His research interests are related to Natural Language Processing, Language Generation and Machine Translation.

Le Hai Nam

Mr. Nam is an AI Resident at FPT AI Center and a Master of Computer Science at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. His research interests include developing AI models for natural languages and programming languages. Chuong Huynh

Chuong is currently a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). His research focuses on deep learning for computer vision, primarily Semantic Segmentation for high-resolution images. Before starting his graduate study, he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in the Honors program at the Ho Chi Minh University of Science and became one of the first AI Residents at VinAI Research.

Hoa Nguyen
Ph.D. student in Structural Biology at Sorbonne University, France
Hoa, with a background in Pharmacy, has spent four years working in the application of deep learning in healthcare, particularly within the realm of computer vision. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Sorbonne University. Hoa’s research centers on employing deep learning techniques in conjunction with cryogenic electron microscopy images to unravel protein structures for drug discovery.

Trung Hieu Hoang

Hieu is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC). His research interests include computer vision, deep learning, AI in healthcare, and medical image processing problems. Cong Nguyen Tan

Cong is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at the Ho Chi Minh University of Science, VNU HCM, and a lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU HCM. He is interested in intelligent algorithms and data mining. In particular, the main research fields currently are computer vision and medical image processing problems.

Hanh Tran

Hạnh is a PhD researcher at La Rochelle University (France) and the Jozef Stefan Institute (Slovenia). She holds two master's degrees in Data Mining from USTH (Vietnam) and the University of Montpellier (France). Previously, she worked as a data science engineer at a Vietnamese Fintech company and as an R&D engineer at Samsung SDSV, developing machine learning and deep learning models. Her research focuses on natural language processing, text mining, and terminology extraction for under-resourced languages. In addition to research, she also teaches Machine Learning and Deep Learning courses at VietAI.

Duc Nguyen

Duc Nguyen (Co-founder of Palexy, Kaggle GrandMaster) Duc is the Chief Data Engineer of Palexy where he is in charge of data engineering and data science. Duc has been an active Data Scientist at the Kaggle community and participated in multiple Kaggle Competitions with high rankings. He has achieved "Kaggle Competitions GrandMaster" since 2020.
Duc received his MS at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST).

Ngân is currently the Natural Language Processing (NLP) Engineer at Vin Bigdata. She graduated from University of Engineering and Technology-VNU with a BSc in Computer Science in the Honors Program. Her interest lies in computational linguistics research which includes syntactic and semantic parsing techniques and NLP applications such as text analysis, question answering, text summarization, etc.

Phat Hoang

Phat is working as a Data Scientist at Techbase Vietnam (a subsidiary of Yahoo! Japan). He received his Bachelor degree in Computer Science at University of Science - VNUHCM. In 2015, Phat did his internship at Japan Advanced Institute Science and Technology (JAIST). From August 2015 to March 2017, he worked as Research Engineer at Knorex to develop text mining tools in advertisement.

Kien Huynh

Kien was a research assistant at Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology. He has published several IEEE papers about applying deep learning and machine learning on vision-based traffic density estimation. Currently he’s a PhD candidate at Stony Brook University, NY. Binh Nguyen

Binh Nguyen is a Machine Learning Engineer at Vin Bigdata, working on applying Machine Learning technology to production. He was acknowledged as a Google Developer Expert in Machine Learning in Vietnam. He has been working in AI/ML as an applied researcher, engineer where his work spans question answering systems, text-based knowledge extraction. Binh obtained a master's degree in Computer Science at HUST.
